Acts 6:1-7

So far in Acts we can see that there is a pattern. There is a threat to the Gospel, the apostles respond with the power of the Holy Spirit, then the Word advances.

The problem this time is that the church is disorganised. This disorgansiation is leading to a split.

Acknowledge the problem

The apostles could easily dismiss the problem but in their wisdom they decide to address it immediately.

Delegate Responsibility

It's clear to the apostles that to do this themselves would affect their ministry, so they delegate. Delegation is a great skill for a leader to have. They do not micro-manage, nor do they just give the responsibility to anyone. They pray and carefully choose the 7 godliest men amongst the church. Then, instead of just throwing them into it, they take the time to pray for and bless the men before they begin the work.

Knowing priorities

The apostles knowtheir priority is the Gospel spreading. But that cannot happen without the church functioning strongly and efficiently. So they choose to act now so that they do not have to act again. Again, the result is the same. The Word increases and the church grows.
